Services
A Dove Release at a memorial service represents the
departing spirit of the loved one returning to his/her
heavenly home. An accompanying flock may be released to
represent the spirits of loved ones passed on before who
have come to escort the departed one home.
Our hope is to make the Dove Release as personal and
appropriate for you and your family as is possible. As the
Doves ascend into the sky, it is our hope that the beauty
and symbolism of their flight may take your breath away,
and that peace will descend upon you and your gathered
loved ones.
The Departing Spirit
At the
conclusion of the ceremony, a relative or friend releases a
single white dove by hand or from a small basket. Symbolic
of the departing loved one, the dove may circle, then flies
off on its spiritual journey home. Those watching are able
to emotionally "release" their loved one as the white dove
flies off into the horizon.
Angelic Escort Home
At the
conclusion of the graveside ceremony, a flock of doves is
released. The flock of "angels" circles above, awaiting the
spirit Dove who will soon join them. A family member or
friend then releases a single white dove from the
gravesite. The single dove, symbolic of the loved one's
spirit, joins the flock of awaiting angels and as a group
they depart over the horizon to begin their spiritual
flight home.
